Diesel drops 5.1 cents to $2.847

The national average price for a gallon of diesel last week retreated 5.1 cents to $2.847. This came as news that much of the refining and oil infrastructure along the Gulf Coast will recover sooner than expected from the disruptions caused by Hurricane Katrina. All regions received a much-needed price break from last week's record highs, but the California region saw the biggest drop at 9.2 cents to $3.158.
